Burlap Wreaths

I decided to make a few burlap wreaths to sell in my home decor store (Wisteria Lane) in Senoia.  I bought a 24" styrofoam wreath ring at Hobby Lobby.  I picked this red color burlap to make the wreath with.

You will need a hot glue gun and a screw driver or some thing to push the burlap into the wreath. You will make a hole in the styrofoam fill with hot glue then push your burlap into the hole. I cut 4" X 4" squares since my burlap was 4 inches wide.  When I finish I will let you know how many squares I cut to make this wreath.
You can see where I started on the top working my way around the styrofoam. Then I filled in along the outside of the styrofoam moving to the inside last. I put black felt on the back of my wreath instead of covering the back with burlap. You should cover your wreath in burlap fist by wrapping the burlap around the wreath. I was short on burlap and decided to put felt on the back.
This is what the wreath should look like just before you finish.

Provence Color Chalk Paint Side Table

This is a work in progress- These are my before shots! I can't wait to see how it turns out!! I am going to paint this table in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint color/Provence and change the knobs!!

Let's get started. You should always start your furniture painting by flipping the piece upside down. I put the first coat of chalk paint on the cabinet. The color I choose to paint this is "Provence" by Annie Sloan. This cabinet reminds me of a piece of furniture that you may see used in a cottage decor.  That is why I choose this color.
I finished the first coat on the outside so now I paint my first coat on the inside.
I pulled the drawer out and I now have a coat of paint on every thing.
I decided to put two coats of paint on this piece of furniture because it had that dark green color on it and I did not want that color to bleed thru to my lighter color.
As you can see by this pic that it did need two coats of paint.
I have now finished the table with my paint color choice. I decided to rub Annie Sloan clear wax on this table. I used a wax brush to put the wax on with. Use a piece of cheese cloth to wipe the wax down with after brushing on. Make sure to rub the wax in on all cracks. Do not put the wax on a large area and let dry. The key to chalk paint is to keep your wax even. Or you will have a piece of furniture shiny on some areas and dull on some areas.  It does not take a lot of wax. If your piece of furniture does not dry quickly that means you have put to much wax on the furniture.  Or if it dries and you have rubbed it down and it feels chalky to much wax. Just keep rubbing to get the wax rubbed in.
I like to make my painted pieces shiny so the more you rub the shinier it will be.
This is my finished product. I went to Hobby Lobby and bought these cute clear heart knobs. I also painted over the brass hinges so you could not see them.
I love this piece of furniture. It does not look like the green piece that I started out with. Oh the miracle of chalk paint.
Love this!!!!!!
Come by Wisteria Lane to see it in person. Have fun chalk painting!

Shelf Stand/Napoleonic Blue and Old White

This floor shelf was a dark brown stain when I started painting it. I will start making before shots on my work in progress.  I used Annie Sloan chalk paint color/Napoleonic Blue and Old White.

As you can see I started painting the piece upside down. You should start painting all pcs upside down.
You can see where I put one coat of Old White on the shelf and I let it dry over night.
I decided to tint my wax in the Napoleonic Blue. This was an experiment that turned out pretty cool.
I put some Annie Sloan clear wax and Annie Sloan dark wax in a bowl together then poured the Napoleonic Blue in with it. I guessed on how much to mix hoping it would cover the entire pc of furniture.
I started painting this mixture on the shelf while rubbing with a rag any excess wax. I rubbed the high points a little harder to make it stand out. I let it dry over night.  The next day I flipped the shelf up and did the top part of it and let it dry over night.
I decided to leave more of my wax mixture on the shelves so they would stand out too. When it was dry I took a rag and rubbed all over it until I got the shine that I wanted.
This is the finished product. As you can see the shelves are darker due to mixing more dark wax on them. I wanted them to stand out. This piece is at my home decor store (Wisteria Lane) in Senoia.

This piece is really pretty. Come by my store and take a look at it. I love my chalk paint.

Paris Grey Chalk Paint Table

This was a white swan table that I refinished in Annie Sloan Paris Grey Chalk Paint.
Again I did not do a before shot. The table was white when I bought it so it did not require much work.
I really love the detail with this table. It is really pretty.  I put one coat of Annie Sloan Paris Grey paint on this table. I let it dry over night and put a clear wax over the table and let it dry.
I took a soft sanding block and started rubbing on the table where I wanted it to look distressed.  This table came out really pretty.  Prettier then I thought it would.

After I finished sanding I took a rag a started rubbing the table until I got the shine that I wanted. This is the finished product. It is at my home decor store (Wisteria Lane) which is in Senoia. So come by and check it out.

Emperor's Silk Chalk Paint Table

This was my first chalk paint trial.  It was so easy and fun!!  If I can do it  anyone can do it!!!  Here are a few pictures of the finished product.  Sorry everyone I did not do before shots. When I bought this table at a flea market it was already painted white.
I painted this table with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint" Emperor's Red."  I put one coat on the table and I let it dry over night. Then I put Annie Sloan Dark Wax on the table. I rubbed the wax on then went behind it with a rag to rub off any extra wax. I usually rub my wax on the furniture pieces if they are small and do not have a lot of grooves.  I love the front detail on this table. That is why I bought it.
After the wax was dry I took a soft sanding block and rubbed over every thing that I wanted to stand out. Then I took a  cheese cloth rag and rubbed the table until I got the shine that I wanted.
This is the back side of my table.
I loved this table so much that I kept it. It looks great in my house. I love the color RED!
You can try it to! I gave you the products that I used and the steps!!! Have fun! The miracle of chalk paint.
